Jeff’s 79 Ghia
I used this car for everyday driving, until one day I decided to take it to the local dragstrip to see how it would do. My wife thought it was a bad idea and said she wasn’t going to watch me run, until she saw that it didn’t run too bad for having 160,000 miles on it. The only thing that was done to it was; coil springs were cut to lower, bumpers were removed, seats were removed, (except for the drivers seat of course), removed breather and set timing at 12 degrees. It ran 11.08 through the 1/8 with a 60ft. time of 2.48, at 62 mph. This might not sound too good for some cars, but I had some honda owners and some other front wheel drive cars come to me and ask me how I made it run so fast. After years of good service I had to finally lay it to rest, after the rust started taking over the floorboard. Now the engine still lives on in a 1978 fiesta.
I really love Fiesta’s. I have owned 5 of them that I drove everyday and 6 for parts. My wife will never really understand the connection that I have with a Fiesta, but when it snows she always knows which car to jump into. She has learned to like them over the years. My whole family loves Fiesta’s, my little brother who is only 14 owns a 1979, that he loves to drive around the yard, dreaming of the day he gets his license to go cruising and to the drag strip with his older brother. I am so glad to have found a website for Fiesta’s only, which proves to me I am not the only Fiesta lover in the world.
