Bill’s ‘79 Fiesta Story
In Baltimore, Maryland in the late 1980’s Ford Fiestas’ were eazy to find. My Grandfather happened upon many of them, which he bought and sold to make extra cash. Having owned a Silver Ford Fiesta years ago, my Father liked the cars, and decided he wanted another one. My Grandfather at the time had two, one, a yellow 1979 base model with great outer condition but a bad interior. The other, a dark blue Base model with trashed outside, and great interior. My Dad swapped the inner of the Yellow ‘79 for the inner of the Blue, and he had a great car. Over the course of two years, my Dad had the yellow ‘79 repianted it’s original Yellow, installed new carpet, as well as a console for a stereo and other things such as headers. The car became a beautiful of what a ‘79 Ford Fiesta could (and should have) been. Though souped up, the car looked a lot like it’s original state when it was new, but with some defining updated features. The Fiesta served him flawlessly throughout the five years he had it, and was reluctantly sold in 1992. It’s just too bad he sold it, because I’m his son, and now 16 (looking for a Fiesta of my own). Thanks for putting this story on the site.
